Changing the conversation about health

WATCH: A College of Medicine Young Fellow, Hamaad Khan, addresses students on Social Prescribing for the future

One of The College of Medicine’s Young Fellows, Hamaad Khan, delivered a powerful speech to students on Social Prescribing Day 2023, which took place on March 9th, about how Social Prescribing is vital to the future success of the NHS.

He told the audience: ‘As health creation moves beyond the bricks and mortar of our hospitals, our hope is to deliver medicine beyond medicines.

‘As the health profession finally widens its perspective beyond the biomedical and into the biopsychosocial, our hope is to not just treat ill health, but to prevent it. Our hope for the future is to move beyond sick care.

Hamaad is part of The College of Medicine Young Fellows Programme, developed to empower and inspire talented medical students across the UK to put into action their ideas whilst developing core transferrable skills.
