Let’s Dance for better health day set for March 2nd

A national campaign is once again encouraging people to get on their dancing shoes for better health this spring.

Let’s Dance is hoping to inspire everyone, regardless of age, fitness level, or experience, to embrace dance as a way to improve health and wellbeing and connect with others.

Research has proved that partaking in physical activity means 2.7 million fewer GP visits in the UK, with regular movement reducing health risks such as Type 2 diabetes and dementia, as well as having a positive impact on mental health.

Founded by veteran TV presenter and Strictly Come Dancing star Angela Rippon CBE (pictured), the campaign is supported by leading organisations including the Sport and Recreation Alliance, NHS, and Parkinson’s UK.

When Angela reconnected with dance on BBC One’s Strictly Come Dancing, the TV star said she experienced firsthand the physical, mental, and social benefits of dancing regularly.

Inspired by her journey and the conversations it sparked across the UK – particularly among older adults – Angela partnered with national organisations to launch a campaign that brings dance to everyone.
