Changing the conversation about health

In memoriam – Olivia Byrom

Olivia (Liv) Byrom was a supporter of the College of Medicine, and a member of the College’s Student Strategy Group. As well as attending College events, such as our foundation course in integrated medicine, Liv volunteered to give up her time and help at events such as the 2017 conference Food. The future Medicine. An enthusiastic and friendly individual, Liv was always a popular member of the team (as is demonstrated in the photo which shows Liv between fellow medical student Anna Furse and College Chairman Dr Michael Dixon), and could be relied upon to act as a professional and bright young ambassador for the College and its Student Strategy Group.

Olivia had just qualified as a doctor and was on a trip to Canada and Mexico in June 2018 when she drowned during a scuba diving course. She was 29 years old. Her untimely death came as a shock to all those who had the privilege to know Liv, and our deepest condolences go out to her family and friends at this most difficult of times.
