College of Medicine Treasurer is appointed Lord-Lieutenant of Dorset

A senior member of the College of Medicine has been made Lord-Lieutenant of Dorset. Mr Michael Dooley, who is a Consultant Obstetrician and Gynaecologist at Dorset County Hospital, was appointed the title on September 5th.

Mr Dooley is a founding member of the College of Medicine and is our Treasurer.

He has attended three Olympic Games as British Team Doctor and also established The Poundbury Clinics as centres of excellence providing an integrated approach to women’s health.

Lord-Lieutenants are appointed by The King for each county in the United Kingdom, to represent the Crown. They are non-political and retire at the age of 75. The post is unpaid.

Mr Dooley will succeed Angus Campbell CVO, who recently retired after serving 10 years in the role.
