Professor John Cox MRCP
John Cox is Professor of Mental Health at the University of Gloucestershire and Professor Emeritus at Keele University. He is past President and former Dean of the Royal College of Psychiatrists and was Secretary General of the World Psychiatric Association until 2008. He has been a member of various Department of Health committees on mental health, commissioning, workforce and training. He has written many peer-reviewed articles for scientific journals in the field of psychiatry, maternal mental health, religion and mental health in different countries. He is a member of the editorial boards of five journals and has contributed around 30 chapters to various books and published more than a dozen books of his own. His clinical career includes consultant posts in adult psychiatry and working as Director of Perinatal Psychiatry at Charles Street Parent & Baby Day Hospital.
